My main tasks
The Sterile IPT (integrated process team) in Brinny is required to compliantly manufacture lyophilised and solution products in vials and cartridges. My current job is to lead this department.
What I like
The best thing about the manufacturing area is the pace!
There is never a dull moment, I also like the fact that everybody within the manufacturing area is very connected with the life-saving medicines that we make.
The number of meetings! We have improved a lot over the last couple of years and we constantly challenge meeting durations and attendees – but it seems like a constant battle!
Work / life balance
I have a young family so leaving on-time and being home in the evening is important to me – my job allows this while also affording me the remote technologies to me able to connect at different times of the day.
Who influenced me
I have been very fortunate in my career to have been influenced by my direct leads – I have been able to have very good discussions about different opportunities and possibilities with all of my leads – your relationship with your boss is hugely important for advice on career direction.
Most useful aspects of my education
Chemistry and maths are important for chemical engineering.
Useful Work Experience
Any role within a manufacturing environment would be useful – at MSD Brinny we offer many different opportunities to students at different levels to experience working on a site like ours.
