Teen Turn's Blog Winner announced

For a second year, the Teen-Turn initiative placed girls from throughout Ireland into two-week technology work placements with some of the country’s and world’s leading companies. The aim of Teen-Turn is to provide girls from areas where third-level education is uncommon the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a technology career environment under the mentorship of a woman-in-STEM role model.During the placements, Teen-Turn participants were engaged in a wide variety of projects including solutions engineering, data analytics, business intelligence, product applications, app and software development, 3D printing, scientific research, service desk and local IT functions, testing, networks and digital content and marketing. Additionally, participants benefitted from exposure to project management, agile methodology and scrum processes as well as workshops on CV writing and career guidance.

By blogging about their time with their mentors and companies, Teen-Turn participants were able to share their day-to-day challenges, discoveries, and successes. As part of this element, Science Foundation Ireland’s Smart Futures generously provided prizes to award the best blogs.
